   TWEED mayor Barry Longland gets a touch sad at the end of winter each year.

He loves the coldest months, tweed and more, many scarves he wears religiously.

The collection consists mainly scarves like material. Hand knitted wool in different colors and sizes are the key to a good cabinet scarves, according to the mayor.

With a wide range of scarves to it, you might think it's hard to choose a favorite, but not for Cr Longland you can see hanging from his neck the day the Daily News caught at the beach in Kingscliff.

 "My favorite is the Gazman. I have a nostalgic link to this, this is my official scarf and my favorite is safe," he said.

Cr Longland never leaves time to dominate the selection of his scarf rather leave the place, on any day you choose the scarf.

"The fashion scarf for the day depends on the event or occasion and outfit, my passion for fashion certainly helps in my choice," Cr Longland said.

"Scarves are not just a simple device to keep the hot zone of the neck, but a fashion statement of sorts."

Cr Longland wrong with other trends such as the popularity of skinny jeans, it's a good hat in the privacy of his living room.

"I would like to see the cap to make a comeback in the fashion stakes and of course make the sun is a very smart option," Cr Longland said.

Don Dunstan, the former South Australian Prime Minister, once wore a pair of pink shorts in parliament. Cr Longland said he would not go to all these waterfalls in the boardroom.

"I would not go for something like Dunstan and pink shorts, I remember wearing slogan T-shirts, even in elections," Cr Longland said.
